Peerless Industrial Group
Peerless Industrial Group is a leading manufacturer of overhead lifting chains, rigging accessories, and below-the-hook material handling equipment for professional and commercial operations. The company was started in 1917 as the Peerless Chain Company and was known for manufacturing automotive tire chains. The company eventually renamed themselves Peerless Industrial Group. They expanded into hardware and industrial chain manufacturing, as well as wire forms in the 1960’s and overhead lifting products in the late 1970’s.
Today Peerless is a leader in the designing, engineering and manufacturing of chain, overhead lifting, cargo control, and traction products in North America. Headquartered in Winona, Minnesota, Peerless offers best-in-class products, innovation and custom solutions to a diverse industrial and consumer base.
The Peerless product offering is grouped into six categories: Overhead Lifting, Below-the-Hook and Material Handling, Cargo Control, Hardware and Industrial, Marine and Traction.
As of August 2014, Peerless became a subsidiary of KITO Corporation, the largest producer of chain and wire rope hoists in the world.
Peerless Overhead Lifting Chains & Rigging
Lifting & Rigging Chain: Peerless alloy chain is a rugged, versatile, high-strength, low-weight chain manufactured from alloy steel. It is quenched and tempered before proof testing and the ultimate tensile strength is over twice that of ordinary steel chain. Tensile strength following heat treatment meets or exceeds all existing OSHA, Government, NACM and ASTM specification requirements.
Chain Slings: Peerless can manufacture, repair and certify/recertify welded and mechanical 9/32" through 2" chain slings. We will make welded and mechanical chain slings with Grade 63, Grade 80 and Grade 100 chain. All Peerless chain slings meet all ASME and OSHA requirements.
Couplings & Hooks: Peerless offers a wide range of coupling links and sub-assemblies as well as slings, grab hooks, foundry hooks, self-locking hooks, and shackles, all used for overhead lifting.
Stainless Steel Rigging Components: Stainless steel is an alloy that contains at least 50% iron and 10% chromium, which inhibits corrosion. The more chromium added to stainless alloys (up to a maximum of about 30%) the more corrosion-resistance the composition is. Many other elements are added to enhance the durability properties of a particular grade and type of stainless steel. Coupling links, master links, sub-assemblies, round rings, s hooks, foundry hooks and swivel hooks are also available in stainless steel.
Cargo Control Products: Peerless cargo control includes equipment for all of your cargo control needs - including hauling, rigging, moving, towing and securing.
Chain Grading: One of the safety measures implemented was to place chain in grades based on the ultimate breaking strength of that chain. This number is what we see today G30, G43, G70, G80 & G100 are the most common chain grades. For example, G80 means that the maximum stress on the chain at ultimate strength is 800 newtons per millimeter squared. The meanings of chain grade numbers which manufacturers use are actually one tenth of the actual grades. Therefore, G80 is 800; G70 is 700, and so on. The grade refers to the tensile strength of the chain.
Transport Chain Accessories: The accessories include a variety of hooks like a clevis grab hook. These are commonly used in load binding applications as an end on a transport chain. The shallow throat opening provides a secure connection to make sure your chain won't slip.
Binder Chain Assemblies: These are chains that use a clevis hook for tying cargo down or towing, available in grades G43, G70, G80 and T80 Grade Binder Chain.
Chain Binders: Also called a load binder, chain binders are a device to tighten chain when securing a load for transport.
Tow Straps: Tow straps with hooks feature two chrome eye tow hooks. Tow straps are available in a variety of lengths and widths.
Chain & Chain Accessories: Peerless is known for their chain products and we offer a wide selection of chain and chain accessories for a variety of applications.
Welded Chain: Is a general utility chain that features both high tensile strength and resistance to wear for industrial, agricultural and load binding. These also include straight link coil chains, twist link coil chains, straight link machine chains, twist link machine chains, and passing link chains.
Weld-less Chain: These chain types include twin loop chain, brass plumber’s chain, sash chain, jack chain and lock link chain.
Forged Hooks & Connectors: We offer a selection of Peerless clevis and eye hooks designed for various grades of chain and are held onto the chain through different connection styles. These include clevis grab hooks, clevis slip hooks - with latch, eye grab hooks, and double clevis links. Available in G30, G43 and G70.
Shackles: A shackle is a U-shaped piece of metal secured with a clevis pin or bolt across the opening of the shackle or can have a hinged metal loop secured with a quick-release locking pin. We offer Peerless Screw Pin Chain Shackles and commercial grade shackles.
Stainless Steel Chain Accessories: A 316 stainless steel alloy is a good choice for chains used in an outdoor environment because the stainless steel protects against rust and corrosion. We sell stainless steel screw pin anchor shackles, quick links, and spring links.
Cordage & Rope: We offer a wide selection of ropes used in rigging and load securing. The product selection includes solid braided nylon rope, manila rope, poly truck rope, twisted nylon rope and twisted poly rope in reels.
We also carry: Winch line tail chains, strap assemblies & accessories, bulk strap hardware, winches & winch bars, hard parts & corner guards, rubber & elastic tie-downs, deck cargo lashing chain, cargo bars, and cable pullers.
